Here in New England, the water has finally begun to transform from a solid to a liquid.  Although there is still a small glacier at the end of my driveway that may last until June, I have a bit of Spring fever and will get out for a short paddle today and divert my attention away from the winter workshop projects toward outdoor activities.

The two major planning activities are the trip logistics for food and supplies, and arranging for coverage with my team at work.  The boss was amazing when I told him about the trip.  He said "no problem, you have to do these things, you can't put them off…".  What a relief, I thought for sure there would be some push back with all our project and mergers going on.

I will be opening this blog up to the public soon so that the crew at the NFCT can publish the link and we can share our trip with the NFCT and broader paddling community.

Now it is list time:

  • Packing List
  • First Aid and emergency gear list
  • Meal Plan List
  • Gear to buy and upgrade list
  • Lists for the home team
    • Bills to pay
    • places to meet us along the trail
    • when and where to pick us up
  • ..
Hard to believe after 7 years of thinking about it, we are 2 months from departure.  Although we have paddled nearly half of the trail in sections already and we have a lot of knowledge and experience, this will certainly be a new challenge.

Look for a posting on the Spot tracking sight as we will be dropping digital bread crumbs the whole way along.
